First Place Award!!

A couple weeks ago I drove to Columbia, SC and hand delivered my quilt and entered it in the state fair.  It was the first time I have entered anything in the state fair and really didn't think it would do well, it being my first time and all.  I was satisfied with being able to say "I have a quilt on display at the state fair."  Well to my surprise,  I got 1rst place!!  I was soooo excited when I heard the news!
Below is the quilt I entered.

This is a photo I took and I blogged about it here.

Here it is on display at the SC State Fair

I tried to take photos of some of the other quilts, but I didn't get very many.  My kids kept rushing me out of the craft building.  For some reason they thought riding rides was more fun than looking at quilts or all the other wonderful craft items in that huge room.

Now seriously... do these rides look more fun than staring at quilts?

The kids had so much fun that they kept riding rides even when it started to rain.
According to the kids, three and a half hours of riding rides in the rain is
definitely more fun than staring at quilts.  :)

  1. How wonderful for you! I must have gotten old somehow while I wasn't looking because staring at quilts definitely sounds like more fun that riding rides. Now. . .eating the fair food might be another story. . .

  4. Congrats! Those judges can spot quality :) I go to fairs just to look at the quilts! You are much nicer than I am, I would have made them look at all the quilts for hours before they could ride the rides, ha!

  5. Nowadays I just salute those going on those rides! Intesity is great but I like to hold on to the sandwich I just enjoyed!

That is really well-done that you won first place! A great quilt looks simple and colorful, until you walk up to it close and see all the wonderful detail and thought that ent into it, such as yours.

Here's something else: It is not only the month for Halloween, but breast cancer awareness month!!! Treat yourself or a loved one because you care! I am just stopping by with a reminder to do your self breast exam.
