Pets On Quilts - 2011

SewCalGal is holding a virtual "Pets on Quilts" Show for 2011.  Anyone can enter photos for the show. To enter a photo and see the rules click here.

Now on to my entry...

This is my lovely cat Sheen..At first glance he appears quite content watching me quilt but then...

He gets distracted by the shinny pins and tries to eat them....

In his effort to get at the safety pins, he becomes an extreme sewing obstacle.

After giving up on trying to get the pins I thought he would get up and go about his business.

But his business appears to be getting comfortable on my quilt and sewing machine...

and taking a nap.  Needless to say, I was done quilting for the rest of the afternoon.

  1. Just so cute - mine only touches the pins when they are in to baste and quilt. AND falls asleep around the machine too which ends the day. Sheen reminds me of the gray we had when my kids were little.

  3. Sheen is very good looking and your quilt is beautiful. But wow, Sheen definitely does get in the way. Maybe he needs to see the photos of the other cats on quilts that are helping. Too funny, but I suspect he could really slow you down. Maybe we need a quilt retreat for cats?

Do let Sheen know pins can be very dangerous and he should stick to his cat toys.

Thanks for sharing. Quite fun to see the antics that Sheen is up to.

  5. I think Sheen is trying to tell you something...I think it's time to get her a sewing machine of her own...and a little quilting time of her own!
    Take care!

  6. How beautiful! I think I looked a little like sheen in that pic with his arms all over the place when I was trying to quilt on the weekend.
    He is a handsome boy.

  7. What a wonderful post. I'm still laughing. I don't know how many times I've walked away from something so I don't disturb a sleeping animal. I guess we know who rules. Thanks.

  8. Sheen is a beautiful cat! How funny that he tries to steal the pins. He must make your sewing time quite complicated at times. Thanks for sharing those great photos :)

  9. I don't think he wanted the pins at all, it was just his way of getting you to leave the quilt for him to snooze on.

  11. LOL!! How funny. :) Sheen knows a good napping place when he finds it - a comfy quilt to lay on and a nice warm machine to lean against. 1

  16. Oh how adorable...not productive...but adorable!

He's obliviously been paying attention to you and your quilting and is trying to mimic your behaviour and has discovered the delight of a newly quilted quilt. :o)

  28. That's hilarious! So far my kitty only sleeps on the fabric, not the machine.

  30. Thank you for sharing your lovely kitty with me. My dogs will not allow me to have a kitty, so I do enjoy looking at photos of other folks kitty companions.
