ReplyDeletePumpkin pie is not common here in Singapore. I have never had a pumpkin pie before, but we use pumpkin to cook with dried shrimps (this is a savoury dish), or use it to make a kueh (this is a sweet dessert), shaped back into small pumpkins.

My friend used to make the best pumpkin rolls with a cream cheese filling,,,, YUMMMM oh and then there was this little Mom and PoP grocery store that made the best, you know I don't know what to call it, it was like a pumpkin moose with whipped cream and there were some crunchies in it of graham crackers, kind of like a light and fluffy mixed up pumpkin pie pudding... whatever it was called it was the best...

All fall I make pumpkin custard, not too sweet, which we eat as a vegetable. Pumpkin custard is simply pumpkin pie without the crust, maybe an extra egg and a little less milk.

I have a Seminole pumpkin bread recipe that make three loaves and is delicious. What a nice selection you chose for the giveaway.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 cups cooked or canned pumpkin
1 ¼ cups vegetable oil
1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips
In a large bowl combine the flour, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda. In another bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, pumpkin and oil. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in chocolate chips.
Pour into two greased 8-inch by 4-inch by 2-inch loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 to 70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the centre comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.
Yield: 2 loaves.
